Harriet Lindemann's piece "Empty Rice Bowl" has been chosen for Curtis Memorial Library's Ekphrastic Poetry Café and Art Exhibit. The exhibit is part of the Library's celebration of Poetry Month and encourages the public to reflect on art in a visual medium by expressing their reaction in poetry.
Ekphrastic poetry is a poem inspired by a work of art. Through the imaginative act of reflecting on the “action” of a painting or sculpture, a poet creates a vivid description that may amplify and expand its meaning, provide new perspectives or a special angle of approach not usually brought to bear on the original.
Visit the Collaboratory at the Library to see art on display, then put your pencil to paper (or fingers to keyboard, or thumbs to screen…).
Curtis Memorial Library is located at 23 Pleasant Street in Brunswick, ME.
